ABOUT GETTING INTO BOXING AT A YOUNG AGE IN PANAMA

"When you start doing boxing, you start doing it because that's what you do: you fight pretty much everyday. When you play soccer you fight. When you go to take mangos, you have to fight for your mangos. You go steal avocados from someone's yard, you fight for those avocados. But then when you start doing amateur boxing you start getting gifts. You get 25 lbs of rice. Then you say "Oh shit, I can get something from this!" And then next fight you get a bicycle.
I remember one time I was fighting fighting fighting (amateur fights). When you are an amateur there is no winner or loser. You might know you win, but they don't tell you you are the winner or you are the loser. So I got this set of plates and bowls for Mother's Day. I was like, shit! I got a gift for my mom! Then you get motivated. If I keep doing this, at some point I'll get more! And then there's no gift anymore. There's 25 dollars, there's 30 dollars. Then 100 bucks a tournament. Until you really make it big."

Now THAT'S WTFIRGO.
